Our History

Community Bank & Trust is a growing bank with strong community roots.

Founded in 1989 by fourteen local Sheboygan investors who felt a need for a locally owned and operated independent bank, the bank has grown to over $530 million in assets, eleven branch offices, and more than 200 employees.

Recognized as a leading SBA Lender in Wisconsin, Community Bank & Trust is positioned in the marketplace as a leading lender in it's size category since 1999 and has been recognized as Wisconsin's Minority Lender of the Year for two successive years. Offering the competitive lending, deposit, trust and investment services of a larger bank, combined with the personalized touch of an independently owned and operated bank has become the trademark of Community Bank & Trust.

That personalized touch earned Community Bank & Trust the Lakeland College and The Sheboygan Press 2004 and 2005 Customer First Award, recognizing the bank for exemplary customer service. "To find people who treat their customers right and then recognize them is the goal of this award," states Dirk Zylman, vice president of college and community relations at Lakeland College.

The Bank continues to grow, believing that success can be attributed to the Bank's mission statement, to "Meet or Exceed Our Customers' Expectations." Active participation by the Board of Directors and Advisory Board members for each location contributes to this success and maintains the high level of community involvement that was a founding principle.
